Why HubSpot Credits Are a Big Deal for Small Businesses (Like Mine)

If you’ve been around HubSpot as long as I have (since 2018!), you’ve probably noticed something: most of the really powerful features tend to live in the higher-tier plans. And as someone who’s used HubSpot portals of all sizes—from free to Enterprise—I get it. Those advanced tools are usually worth the price tag.

But finally, HubSpot is changing the game for small businesses.

In a rare and exciting move, HubSpot has expanded access to one of its newest AI-powered features, Breeze Customer Agent, using a new HubSpot Credits system—and this time, they’re including Starter plan users too.

Let’s break down what HubSpot Credits are, how they work, and why this matters (especially if you're a small business owner like me).

What Are HubSpot Credits?

HubSpot Credits are a new pay-as-you-scale pricing model designed for usage-based features. Instead of paying a flat fee for access to something like Breeze Customer Agent or Breeze Intelligence, you use credits to power these tools based on how much value you’re actually getting from them.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • HubSpot gives you a monthly credit allocation based on your plan.

  • You use credits when AI features like Customer Agent or data enrichment tools are activated.

  • You can monitor your usage and purchase more credits as your business grows.

Think of it like adding fuel to your car—you get enough to get started, and you only pay for more when you need it.

How Many HubSpot Credits Do You Get?

Starting June 2, 2025, HubSpot rolled out monthly credits to all paid accounts on the seat-based pricing model. Here’s how they break down:

  • Starter: 500 credits/month 🎉

  • Professional: 3,000 credits/month

  • Enterprise: 5,000 credits/month

For the first time ever, Starter customers have access to HubSpot Credits. That means small businesses like yours (and mine!) can try out some of the advanced tools usually reserved for higher-tier plans.

What Can You Do With HubSpot Credits?

Depending on your subscription level, you’ll be able to use your credits for features like:

  • Smart Properties

  • Data Enrichment

  • Buyer Intent

  • Breeze Customer Agent (available to Pro and Enterprise only—for now)

If you’re on the Starter plan, you won’t be able to access the AI agent yet—but this rollout is a huge step in the right direction. And if future AI features follow this same model, Starter customers may be included earlier and more often.

Why This Is a Win for Small Businesses

As a small business owner, I know how tough it can be to find tools that actually scale with your business—without having to jump straight to an expensive subscription.

Here’s why HubSpot Credits are such a big deal for companies like ours:

  • Access to more advanced tools: Even Starter customers can tap into premium features like buyer intent and smart data enrichment.

  • Pay-as-you-grow flexibility: You only pay for what you use, making budgeting easier.

  • Scalable automation: As AI tools like Breeze continue to evolve, you won’t be left behind just because you're on a lower plan.

  • Trial before commitment: Included monthly credits give you a no-risk way to explore the value of AI in your marketing, sales, or service efforts.

Small businesses can now test out tools that help them work smarter—not harder. And that’s a game-changer.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been using HubSpot for more than six years, and I’ve seen countless new tools come and go. But this is the first time I’ve seen such a valuable feature become accessible to small businesses right from the start.

HubSpot Credits might seem like a small update, but for us? It’s a major shift.

If you're a small business owner using HubSpot—or thinking about it—this is the time to explore how these credits can help you automate smarter, understand your customers better, and compete with the big guys (without breaking your budget).
